The M8194A is also ideally suited to use any standard or custom data format, such as high-speed backplane connections using PAM-4 or PAM-8 formats, as well as technologies for mobile applications. The flexibility of generating waveforms at the highest speed and the excellent inherent jitter performance make the M8194A a truly future-proof instrument.
At data rates of several Gb/s, the impact of cables, board alignments, connectors, etc. must be accounted for in order to generate the required signal at the test point of the device under test. The M8194A uses digital pre-distortion technology with frequency and phase response compensated AWG outputs and any external circuitry to generate the required signal at the device under test. Channels can be embedded/de-embedded if the S-parameters of the individual circuits are provided. In combination with the 81195A optical modulator using the generator software various distortions can be added to the signal. With its high channel density, the M8194A is ideally suited to precisely stimulate multi-channel high-speed interfaces in an affordable manner.
