The use of oscilloscope current probe
For capacitance testing, use a wire with a cross sectional area of 05mm2 (AWG20) or more.
When connecting the capacitance to be tested to the lead wire, move the capacitance to the tin side of the substrate and measure it using methods A and B. In addition, shorten the lead wire as much as possible.
Ripple current test oscilloscope debugging method
Corresponding test channel probe set to current, select the measurement is coupled DC gear.
Select the broadband as 20MHZ.
Debugging oscilloscope screen displays the measured value of the root-mean-square maximum peak-to-peak frequency of the four measurement items.
Note: Ripple current test before the need to demagnetise the current probe debugging.
Oscilloscope Current Probe Precautions
Through the fault analysis of the damaged current probe, it was found that the probe parts that are easily damaged are roughly:
The circuit board connected to the current amplifier;
Bad magnetic ring of the current probe;
The magnetic ring coil of the current probe;
Cosmetic damage to the sliding clamp of the current probe;
Disconnection of the cable wire.
Causes of damage to the current probe, methods of preventing damage and instructions for use The causes of damage to the above five parts can be summarised as follows:
Damage to the circuit board caused by plugging and unplugging the current probe after the current amplifier has been switched on.
Prevention of damage: Do not plug and unplug the current probe with electricity.
Magnetic rings are fragile materials and can be easily broken by dropping them on the ground or using them with excessive force. Damaged/injured rings will result in inaccurate measurements or the inability to measure current.
Preventing damage and use: Avoid dropping or applying excessive force during use.
The coils of the magnetic ring are thin and overcurrent can cause the coils to burn out.
Preventing damage: Avoid overcurrent loads when using.
Misaligned or cracked current clamps can cause inaccurate tests or failure to measure current. Be careful when pushing the clamps.
Prevent damage by aligning the current clamps during use. Pay attention and be careful when pushing the clamps.
The cable can be easily damaged if it is pulled or twisted too hard.
Preventing damage: Do not pull or twist the cable too hard when using it.
