We commonly used instrumentation such as spectrum analyzers, RF sources, network analyzers, etc. are generally very expensive, if the RF instrumentation improperly used will also have a great impact on the work, and maintenance prices are also very expensive, so how to properly use to avoid unnecessary failures?

A power supply failure caused by the non-boot

Similar to the oscilloscope, the instrument has an independent internal power supply module for the main board and each function module power supply, it is necessary to focus on the safety of electricity.

Issues to be noted in the use of.

1, use the original power cord of the instrument.

2, to confirm whether the instrument AC input has 110V/220V switching switch. If so, confirm that the switch is in the 220V position.

3, to confirm the stability of the power grid. When there is a high-power electrical grid access, first turn off the instrument, unplug the power cord, and then use after the grid is stable.

4, when turning on the power: first plug in the AC power cord, then press the power on button to turn on the power.

When shutting down: press the shutdown button to shut down first, then unplug the AC power cord.

5, pay attention to the use of the instrument environment, and regularly clean up the dust.

Second, the front-end signal processing module failure

Instrument front-end signal processing module is very sensitive to static electricity and excessive signal, if used improperly, it is easy to damage.

The following issues need to be noted in use.

1, it is strictly prohibited to touch the external interface with hands or other parts of the body to prevent electrostatic damage.

2, before use to estimate the signal amplitude, use the appropriate attenuator / test cable for testing.

3, the test adapter / attenuator / test cable first connected, and then pass into the signal; test is completed, first disconnect the test signal, and then remove the adapter / attenuator / test cable.

Third, the interface physical damage

There are many types of attenuator/cable connectors for RF instruments, and the common diameters are 2.4mm, 2.92mm, 3.5mm, etc. They vary. If the use of mismatched diameter connectors, may damage the instrument interface.

Issues to note in use.

1, confirm the type of interface before use.

2, plugging and unplugging the interface should not be forced to plug and unplug, encounter the inability to insert or screw the case immediately remove the interface, confirm the type of matching and then connect again.

3, various adapters / cables need to be properly stored to prevent damage caused by bumping.
