High input power up to +40 dBm, including integrating sphere
Integrating sphere supports high power up to +40 dBm
Wide 8 mm diameter aperture
Removable heat sink for input powers above 2 W
The 81628B optical power probe has a built-in integrating sphere that allows wavelength-dependent calibration for accurate high-power measurements. Distributes power equally over a wide sphere beyond the detector to ensure measurement linearity and temperature stability. Features include averaging time settings (100 µs to 10 s), automatic power ranging, minimum and maximum value monitoring, and logging capability for up to 20k samples. Fiber adapters are available for common types of connectors, including bare fiber clamps.
The 81628B requires a combination with a threaded adapter. When the adapter is removed, the input can be connected to an open bundle or a custom fiber clamp through an 8 mm diameter aperture. These probes connect to the 816x host using the 81618A single channel or 81619A dual channel interface module.
Benefits
This measurement configuration ensures that the power is evenly distributed to all parts of the sphere, avoiding localized hot spots and thus ensuring long life and uncompromising reliability
