The DSA8300 Digital Serial Analyser provides the most versatile tool for the development and testing of communications, computers, and consumer electronics using multi-gigabit data transmission technologies. It can be used to qualify and verify the conformance of optical and electrical interface transmitters for the devices, modules, and systems used in these products.


In addition, the DSA8300 is particularly well suited for electrical interface signal path qualification, including packages, PCBs or cables. With outstanding bandwidth, signal fidelity, and the most scalable modular architecture, the DSA8300 provides the highest performance TDR and interconnect analysis, the most accurate signal impairment analysis, and BER calculation capabilities for current and emerging serial data technologies.



Finally, with outstanding signal fidelity and resolution, the DSA8300 provides the gold standard for electrical and optical interface applications requiring ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-fine vertical resolution, low jitter, and/or outstandingly low noise.


With unrivalled measurement system fidelity and the lowest fundamental instrument jitter background (425 fs RMS typical for serial data signals at rates >1.25 Gb/s), the DSA8300 guarantees the most accurate simultaneous acquisition of up to eight high-bandwidth signals. With the 82A04B phase reference module, acquisition jitter is less than 100 fs RMS for better analysis.


The multiprocessor architecture and dedicated per-slot digital signal processor (DSP) provide fast waveform acquisition rates, reducing the test time required for reliable calibration and conformance verification.


The DSA8300's versatile modular architecture supports a large and growing number of plug-ins, allowing you to configure your measurement system with a variety of electrical, optical, and accessory modules best suited for your current and future applications. 6 module slots are available to accommodate a clock recovery module, a precision phase reference module, and multiple electrical or optical acquisition modules simultaneously. The DSA8300 provides six module slots that can simultaneously accommodate a clock recovery module, a precision phase reference module, and multiple electrical or optical interface acquisition modules, allowing system performance to match evolving requirements. With the ability to plug and play sampling modules without powering up, the DSA8300 (for oscilloscopes with firmware version 6.1 and above) can be configured more flexibly as test requirements change.


In addition, dedicated module packages, such as clock recovery for single-ended and differential electrical interfaces, electrostatic protection for electrical interface samplers, and connectivity to the popular TekConnect® probing system, provide best-in-class Tektronix probe performance in both high impedance probing and differential probing. Low impedance probes for 50 Ω probing and TDR probing are also available. Raw acquisition performance of the DSA8300 and its sampling modules and accessories is further enhanced by the comprehensive measurement and analysis capabilities of the DSA8300 and associated application software.


Measurement and Analysis Tools for Optical Interface Test Applications 


The DSA8300 features a variety of measurement and analysis tools specifically designed to meet the needs of optical interface test applications. In addition to standard amplitude and timing parameter measurements (e.g., rise time/fall time, amplitude, RMS jitter, RMS noise, frequency, period, etc.), the DSA8300's suite of measurements includes customised measurements for measuring optical interface signals (Average Optical Interface Power (AOIP), Extinction Ratio (ER), Eye Diagram Height (EIH), Eye Diagram Width (EDW), Optical Modulation Amplitude (OMA), and so on). The DSA8300 also includes a standards conformance test module that supports all commonly used optical standards from 155 Mb/s to 100 Gb/s. The DSA8300 template test system can automatically fit standard and user templates to the data collected in the waveform database. The template test system can also automatically determine the template margin based on the total number of template violations or the ratio of template violations to the number of samples collected in the template test unit interval. Users can also create customised templates to automate template testing. Histograms and cursor measurements are also provided to analyse the optical interface signals captured by the DSA8300.
