The Yesteryear Keysight 86100D-9FP PAM-N analysis software. The software provides comprehensive optical and electrical PAM-4 signal analysis to help engineers apply the Keysight 86100D DCA-X oscilloscope platform to complete fast and accurate PAM-4 (4 level pulse amplitude modulation) signal testing and verification.

In the information age, data center network bandwidth is always under significant pressure due to the need for rich content and fast access capabilities. Simply increasing the speed of components cannot meet these demands. PAM-4 is multilevel signaling designed to increase the amount of data transmitted over high-speed digital communication links. For example, PAM-4 is designed to support Ethernet speeds of 100 Gb to 400 Gb.

Several industry organizations and standards bodies are applying or actively considering PAM-4 technology to enable next-generation speeds and increase data rates for specified channel bandwidths compared to traditional non-return-to-zero (NRZ) signaling. Traditional NRZ measurement algorithms can be used in part for PAM-4 testing, but the unique nature of PAM-4 signaling itself requires specific algorithms, as well as specific parameter measurements.

The replacement of NRZ by PAM-4 means that customers face a number of new design and measurement challenges," said Dave Cipriani, vice president and general manager of the Oscilloscopes and Protocols Business Unit at Yestech. The new release of analysis software from Yestech will help engineers meet these challenges with ease and speed designs to market."

The 86100D-9FP PAM-N analysis software provides measurements of:

Eye width, eye height and eye diagram offset
Level amplitude, level noise, and level offset
Amplitude level linearity

The PAM-4 option, in combination with the existing DCA-X software option, provides more powerful analysis capabilities:
PAM-4 equalizer (LFE, CTLE, DFE), combined with 86100D option 201
PAM-4 channel embedding/de-embedding in combination with 86100D option SIM In-finiiSim-DCA
IEEE JPO3 code pattern jitter and amplitude analysis, combined with 86100D Option 200/300

Multi-level signaling systems are highly susceptible to noise, making the 86100D's low-noise, high-bandwidth modules ideal for PAM signal testing and verification. All 86100D DCA-X modules support 86100D Option 9FP PAM-N analysis, such as the 86108B Precision Waveform Analyzer module, which supports accurate analysis of electrical signals up to 32 G watts, or the 86105D-281, which can accurately analyze high-speed optical signals. In addition, engineers can analyze saved or simulated PAM signals offline with the PC-mounted N1010A Option 9TP PAM analysis software for offline analysis of saved or simulated PAM signals.

90 GHz bandwidth
Custom host for optical, electrical and TDR/S parameter analysis
Ultra-low jitter of 100 fs RMS and down to 250 μV ensures fast, accurate and consistent jitter measurements
Access to over 50 built-in standard templates and automatic template margin analysis
Easily measure multiple signals simultaneously; analyze and acquire up to 16 signals simultaneously
Mainframe is upgradeable and backward compatible, providing full protection for your investment
