The product adopts Windows operating system; it has error calibration function, time domain function and fixture emulator function; it has various display formats such as logarithmic amplitude, linear amplitude, standing wave, phase, group delay, Smith circle diagram, polar coordinates, etc.;
it provides various calibration methods including frequency response, single port, response isolation, enhanced response, full dual-port, fast SOLT calibration and electrical calibration function; Capable of multi-channel and multi-window display; with USB interface, LAN network port, GP-IB interface, VGA interface. Can quickly and accurately measure the amplitude, phase and group delay characteristics of the S-parameters of the measured parts, with efficient and powerful error correction capability.

The 3656A has an optional 75Ω test port impedance option for cable TV component measurements.
The 3656A/B/D has a four-port option that allows all 16 S-parameters of a four-port network to be measured in a single connection, as well as balanced parameter measurements; note: the 3656A/B four-port option is an external unit, the 2813A.
