The new N7778C Value Line Tunable Laser Source delivers peak output power in excess of +12 dBm, at least 75 dB/nm above its spontaneous emission level. with typical wavelength repeatability of ±1.5 pm at bi-directional scans up to 200 nm/s. The N7778C's balance of features, performance and price makes it suitable for cost-effective high-throughput manufacturing floor component testing as well as for coherent transmission experiments.
Like its predecessors, the 81600B and 81608A, the new N7778C tunable laser source is supported by Photonics Application Suite software for measuring the spectra of insertion loss, polarization dependent loss and dispersion. Combined with the N774xC multi-port power meter and N7786C polarization synthesizer, the new laser provides optimal scanning wavelength accuracy and excellent dynamic range for measuring filtered stopband and passband.
All N777xC tunable lasers are based on a common cavity and laser module design and share a narrow linewidth, excellent long-term stability and low spontaneous emission levels. They are software compatible with the 8160xA and 81600B lasers, the industry standard for over a decade, but occupy 1 less height unit of rack space. The remote user interface on the instrument can be accessed through a Web browser via a LAN or USB connection. An optional touch screen display provides local operator access and displays current operating parameters.
