The Keysight (formerly Agilent) E4438C ESG vector signal generator provides analog modulation, digital modulation using standard and custom formats, excellent level accuracy and spectral purity, and an extremely easy-to-configure architecture, making it ideal for general development, manufacturing, and error checking applications.


  • Frequency coverage from 250 kHz to 1,2,3,4,6 GHz

  • 160 MHz RF modulation bandwidth with external I/Q input or 80 MHz RF modulation bandwidth with internal baseband generator

  • 100MHz sampling rate with 16bit, 400MHz digital-to-analog converter (4x oversampling rate)

  • 32M samples (160Mbyte) baseband memory

  • 6Gbyte hard drive for waveform storage

  • Internal BER analyzer

  • Wideband FM and phase modulation, AM and pulse modulation

  • Custom digital modulation (>15 types of FSK, MSK, PSK and QAM)

  • Firmware specific (3GPP W-CDMA, cdma2000/IS-95A, GSM/EDGE/NADC, noise) and Signal Studio software specific (802.11a, 802.11b, Bluetooth, 1xEV-DO)

  • 10BaseT LAN, GPIB, and RS-232 connectivity
